We learned that you can create the illusion of space by creating perspective in your drawings. We learned about the horizon line and the vanishing point. We then looked at pictures of tulip field and created our own versions using layers of oil pastel. They are beautiful!

First we discussed the idea of symmetry and created symmetrical butterflies. We colored our butterflies with markers and some students used water so smooth out the color in the wings. Then we created a collaged background using tissue paper.
We talked about the importance of overlapping to create the illusion of space when we are drawing. We painted our daffodils with water color and blended colors to make our flowers look more realistic.
We used thin foam to draw our cities and made mutiple prints on our one piece of paper which we painted with warm and cool colors.
Students learned about France and its capital city Paris. We created a collage of some of its famous symmetrical landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Arc de Triumph. We also practiced making tints for our sky backgrounds and textured green paper for the grass.
