We learn how to make a simple print using bubble wrap. We painted our bubble wrap a warm honey color then placed a piece of paper on top and gently rubbed. Like magic we had a beautiful beehive, the perfect home for our awesome bees!
We looked at the beautiful weavings of the Navajo Native americans and talked about the different lines and shapes that we saw. We then drew and painted our designs with watercolor. We also learned how to make a looped fringe on the edges of our rugs!
Kindergarteners read the Mouse paint and learned about mixing the primary colors to make secondary colors: green, purple, and orange We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and looked closely at the beautiful paper used in the illustrations. We made textured crayon rubbings and then painted water color over them. Then we cut out circles for our caterpillars and printed grass around them.
We learned that a Mosaic is a picture that is made of many smaller pieces. Ours were made out of torn paper and we followed rainbow order out from the middle.
We read a legend about Kente Cloth and how a spider web inspired the original weaver. We made a paper weaving and wonderful decorated spider to sit atop the weaving.
Our Kindergartener learn about goldfish and guppies in their Science lessons at this time of year. We made a home for our fish and talked about the different parts of a fish and the different shapes shapes and lines we could use to draw it.
