Maurice’s Captured Moments Valle Azul Restaurant Bay Leaf Rusty Chandilier #720-1, #749 Kakies We learned about the artist Jasper Johns and his Numbers series. Students then created a composition using numbers that were important to them and picked a color scheme to use in their painting. They reviewed cool color, warm colors, primary colors, secondary colors, and analogous colors.
We learned how to create tints by adding white to a base color. The challenge was to see how many different tints could be made!
We looked at the famous pop artist Lichtenstein and his comic book like paintings. Each student made a self portrait and used cut paper and bubble warp printing to create these unique self-portraits.
We discussed the use of positive and negative space in compositions and looked at examples of the japanese design concept Notan. We used cut paper to create these awesome works of art!
We looked at examples of metal tooling from mexico and learned how to create convex and concave surfaces on the metal. We added color using sharpie markers.
We learned how the North West Coast Native Americans used masks in their culture and students made their own mask out of cut paper.
